Speaking as an American in 2005, I think I have to admit I've never heard that word before.
Maybe in 2008.
unite (v) - To rend asunder, to divide with malice aforethought. (See Bush, George W.)
"workers of the world, unite!" :P

Doug - Libertarians and Democrats, come together and unite!
Gabriel - Wow, that may be the most laudable comment I've ever seen from you, Gabriel.
Maine - Great to see the snark is contagious around here. Excellent.
Nedhead - I sure hope there's a safety net.
Tenderheart - Welcome! Where animosity divides, peace certainly unites.
Poobah - "I'm a uniter not a divider." Famous words Dubya ate.
Mike - Union/Unite, Potato/Potaato
TLM - Why, that's because they're united. Ba Dum Bump. Thank you! I'll be here all week. And don't forget to tip your hostess on the way out!
"Come together, right now, over me."
I have no idea why, but you do say "Free Word Association" and I thought of the Beatles song:
"He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me."
TLP - Yes! That would be the earworm I've had all day.

What I did with my brother on those rare occassions I could convince his little sissy butt to help me in a case of opposition against our parental unit.
Those were the good old days.
Unite? Meday!
The VERY first thing that popped into my head was "United Colors of Benniton" (spelling?). Sad, huh?
Alice - Ah, the good old days (*eh hem, Strider & bro!*)
Shea - Meday is you day! Or something like that. May it be the day!
Aral - Believe it or not I used to wear Colors by Benetton perfume back in '89. I've always been sort of fickle with my perfumes, but I've managed to stick with Gucci (it smells heavenly, and I get in Aruba every year, duty free!) for the last 3 years.
..d Airlines. As a former frequent flyer, I still think about flying all the time.
