2%

Whadda they mean "startled" at the 2% figure? I'm startled that he got the 2%. I figured it would be more in line with a negative number, say -63%. It must be those 2 black Republicans that voted for him.

As I've always said, he has the uncanny ability to piss off everyone.

So 98% of Blacks hate Bush. Now there's a real shocker!

Why, that's a whole 6% higher than in 2000 when we had the most racially divisive Presidential election result in history. 6%...Oh my God! What are we going to do?

What exactly is it that the 2% of blacks (and the other Americans who concur) base their OVERALL approval on? Seriously, at this point it's a no brainer. Reality and logic should dictate no less than 100% disapproval.

Are there really that many brainwashed people keeping the wool pulled over their eyes? Or are there that many who condone this administration's corruption and inept lack of leadership which continues to result in death and dispair?

I've wondered the same thing, Sar.
I mean, what can ANYONE point to that this president and administration has been behind that has been good for the average American?
Maybe some of the people that still give him high marks are wealthy (but only the heartless among them) and the others the handfuls of working people in the middle that still love Bush because he's a fag-hating Jesus freak.
At this point, we're talking about a guy that's going to go down in history as being worse than Jimmy Carter.
Only Bush will NEVER have a post-career like Carter, nor can anyone with a brain even begin to believe that he's as Christian a man as Jimmy, who truly is that.

2% actually like him? Probably not. Every race has its share of Uncle Toms; there are probably a few of them who still favor Bush, for whatever reason.

Sar, I bet he does well with Halliburton shareholders.

Mike & Doug - You're right, it's all about the Benjamins. Despicable.

Little known fact: Blacks can be very, very, very conservative. Loving some Jesus, hating some change. In fact, I've always believed that the Republicans would always win the black vote (since the ideals line up so closely) except for the tiny detail that blacks generally think Republicans hate them.

(To me? That has always been high comedy. People who agree with you won't vote for you because they don't want to give you the power to deport them. Just... golden comedy.)

Anyway, I'm assuming the 2% are probably the same 2% that blindly support anyone that claims to be Jesus folk.

Statistically, that's an amazing number. It doesn't surprise me one bit, but if I were inside the RNC (God help me!), as they're working hard to try and get back some of the African-American vote, I'd be frustrated as hell at the Bush White House for fucking things up so royally. It looked like they might've actually had a chance to gain some traction with African-Americans (not much, mind you, but a decent amount) but with the bungling of the Katrina mess, they've screwed themselves over for the midterms, that's for damn sure.

Maine, I think the same thing can be said from most ethnic minorities in this country.
Particularly Blacks, first and second generation Mexican and Italians, etc..
However, we are talking conservative in their OWN lives but they are by and large working folks.
Well, we're all working folk, but you know what I mean.
Working people may live a conservative life to a certain extent, but they voted democrat when they went to the polls, or for moderate Republicans.
They may be somewhat conservative, but in reality, they still voted for things OTHER than what the Bushmeisters wanted us to vote about like hating fags and getting Jesus back into the schools.
The Latin and non-WASP Euros over here are mostly Catholic, NOT Evangelical whackos.
Just a couple thoughts..

maine- You're exactly right. On the issues, more Blacks should be leaning Republican, but I think old habits die hard.

mike v.- You seem to be hung up on this whole "Republicans hate fags" thing. It's pretty ignorant and tiresome, don't you think?

No, I don't think that all republicans hate fags, but the party under the Bush administration used that and other "social" issues to sell their agenda to the radical Christian nutcases and the redneck morons that actually care for some reason about two men getting married.
Of course, they also are now going to have the whole "Intelligent Design" bullshit hanging around their neck if more of them keep getting behind that garbage as well, but that's another issue.

I don't know that its an "old habits die hard" thing as much as it is an "I think that guy is going to fuck me with the first chance he gets" thing.

My family is Catholic, and generally tend to believe more in self-advancement than society advancement. Naturally, they think and say a lot of the same things that I hear Republicans say all the time. The only difference is that they don't vote for the candidate that supports their ideals - they vote for the guy that they think is less likely to use racial slurs in the privacy of their own home.

It's so funny - I mean... that's like the only issue to them. Fuck the deficit. Fuck the war. They just don't want the guy that let blacks die on rooftops. Period.
