SPAIN SUPPORTS GAY MARRIAGE - WHY CAN'T WE?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Spain is a heartbeat away from approving legislation in support of gay-marriage. My reaction? Ambivalent at best. While I yearn for the rights and inclusion of homosexuals, and I'm therefore proud to see the intelligence and compassion demonstrated by nations like Spain and Canada in their continued backing and support of gay rights, I'm ashamed that we can't provide the same support here in America.

That's right, you won't see that kind of humanitarian support here in America where our administration continues to run counter to the founding principles of our nation which state to include the rights of all, especially the destitute. Yes, I would categorize the gay community as destitute based on the outright violation of character they suffer at the hands of mass ignorant fools, especially our administration.

And, I'm sorry but what a weak defense to try and disguise their blatant bigotry as a religious-based initiative. Bullshit! First of all, our country should not be governed based on any one religion, or ANY religion for that matter; hence we have separation of church & state. Secondly, if you want to bring religion (and in this case specifically Christianity) into the equation, these bigoted zealots are just dead wrong. "Do Unto Others As You Want Them To Do Unto You"; "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself". How utterly ignorant and hypocritical to base your opposition to gay-marriage on these philosophies.

What the fuck happened to "America, The Land of Opportunity"?!

When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, just simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

but I do need some advice, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?

i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

can anyone help?

I am not sure what to do.

Thank you and remember God's word is eternal and unchanging.

***in other words...DON'T PICK AND CHOOSE ASSHOLES! if you want to play like you are living by the "word of god" (which was written by man so I don't understand how it can be the "word of god") THEN LIVE BY THE WORD OF GOD!

it's called buffet religion.

take what you like. leave the rest.

but sooner or later you will gorge yourself too much and become bloated and ugly. ooops....I think that has already happened!

F religion.

Strider - it's not the religion I find fault with, per say, but that these ignorant fools choose to use it as a convenient crutch (though to your credit, you make a fine case for the idiocracy of that).

"Do Unto Others As You Want Them To Do Unto You"

That's not from the Bible, actually. I'll tell you an interesting story: last election, a conservative Catholic group distributed a pamphlet informing the faithful that there were four policy stances that disqualified a person from consideration for office. The only circumstance under which it was permissible to vote for an advocate of these positions was to prevent an even more strident advocate of the same positions from winning office. The first three positions were pro-choice, pro-stem-cell research, and pro-human cloning. OK, I get it: we believe the unborn to be persons whom we have a duty to protect, and those positions explicitly or implicitly advocate killing them. Check. The fourth position that disqualified a person from political office no matter what was pro-gay marriage. Wow. Not condoms for fifth-graders, not capital punishment for the retarded, not foreign aid to the Sudanese government engaged in the genocide of its Christian and Animist population. Gay marriage.

Wow.

Nice to be in your company again!

You're statement perfectly punctuates my point. It all boils down to simple biggotry. The only thing that makes homosexuals different than heterosexuals is that they wear their sexuality on their proverbial sleeve.

But I'd be willing to bet that a great many of those good ol boys in Washington get off on the very same sex that they collectively scoff at. It's like the bullies in school beating up the nerds because they resent that they can't be as smart.

Hypocrites no matter how you slice it!
